Many people experience tension in the muscles of the head and neck. This can result in headaches and migraines that can be quite extreme and debilitating. Many times we diagnose the cause of these headaches to be related to clenching and grinding of the teeth.

During the day, we can work with you on a stress reduction protocol and physical therapy to help you stop clenching and grinding, however; at night, you are unable to consciously stop.

For the treatment of nocturnal bruxism or clenching and grinding of the teeth, we have had great success with bite-splint therapy. Our custom made splints when worn at night will significantly reduce the forces your muscles are able to exert when clenching and grinding. Our splints are also recommended by physical therapists for the treatment of tension in the muscles of the head and neck.

I constantly had severe migraines and tension in the muscles of my head and neck. I have had physical therapy for years to relieve the tension, but the migraines would never go away. Dr. Lebster made a new splint called an NTI and I had almost immediate results. In the first two weeks after wearing the NTI at night I had no migraines! Although I have had occasional episodes since, the frequency is now rare. The splint he made is small so I can easily tolerate sleeping with it.
