Have you always wondered whether or not you were too old to get a straighter smile?invisalign

While you may think braces are just for kids, this is actually untrue. In fact, many adults (maybe even some you know) may have braces and you don’t even know it. How is that possible, you may wonder? Our Holland, MI, dentists are here to explain just how you could get braces to improve your smile without the whole world knowing.

Invisalign. That’s right! Invisalign makes it possible to fix crooked, gapping smiles and to do so discreetly. No one wants to walk into an office full of coworkers with metal braces, and most teens you talk to feel like it would be embarrassing to walk into their high school or college classes with metal braces. Our Holland, MI, general dentists understand these feelings completely, which is why Invisalign might be a great option.

Other factors that could make you a good candidate for Invisalign include:

Your Oral Health

Before any dental procedure can be done, we need to make sure that your mouth doesn’t have any cavities or damage. It’s important that you have good oral health and that you maintain it throughout your treatment. A healthy mouth is also a good sign that you are dedicated to your oral hygiene, which will bode well for wearing Invisalign.

Your Dental Goals

The type of braces you end up getting will mostly depend on the type of dental problems you are looking to correct. Fortunately, Invisalign is able to tackle many of them, but not all of them. Invisalign is great for teens and adults who have crowding, gaps in their smiles or even crooked teeth; however, if you need to correct more complicated issues such as an extreme underbite or overbite then we will most likely recommend traditional braces.

Your Dedication

As we mentioned above, it’s important that you are dedicated to good oral hygiene. Of course, we also want to make sure you are fully dedicated to your treatment. While having removable braces can be a great benefit it can also be easy for someone to take their aligners off and leave them off. Remember, you will want to wear them for at least 22 hours out of the day. Removing Invisalign aligners is fine for eating or brushing and flossing, but otherwise they need to stay on.

Are you ready to take the plunge and get Invisalign? Once you finally have that straight smile it will all be worth it. To learn more about your candidacy for Invisalign, schedule an appointment with Lakeshore Dentistry & Implant Center in Holland, MI.
